The Kauhava report

Kauhava-report

The Ministry of Defence set up an working group in June 2005 to research the possibilities of international cooperation in flight training in Kauhava. The setting up of the working group is connected to the Finnish Security and Defence Policy Report from 2004. The report states among other things that the possibilities of creating an European flight training centre in Kauhava must be studied. It also notes that the training could begin with bilateral agreements.

Besides members from the Ministry of Defence and the Finnish Defence Forces, the working group has included members from the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Ministry of Transport and Communications and Finavia. The working group took advantage of existing Air Force reports on the future of flight training. Brigadier General Arto Räty from the Ministry of Defence has worked as the chairman of the working group. Below is a summary of the final report.
