THE NATIONAL DEFENCE TRAINING ASSOCIATION OF FINLAND (MPK)
The National Defence Training Association of Finland (MPK) is an association under public law and the nationwide coordinating body for voluntary national defence. The purpose of the National Defence Training Association is to promote national defence through training, publicity and education. The association may have local and regional units.
The public administration duties of the National Defence Training Association are:
1. to organise military training and training contributing to military capability as part of voluntary national defence, and to provide publicity and education related to voluntary national defence.
2. to improve the potential for women to participate in voluntary national defence and to organise military training and training contributing to military capability to this end.
3. to control, support and coordinate national defence training provided by its member organisations.
The National Defence Training Association plays a strong role in reservist training of the Defence Forces. The training significantly supports maintaining the performance level of the wartime troops of the Defence
Forces. Skilled reservists are offered the opportunity to seek, train for and commit to more demanding trainer and leadership duties.
The National Defence Training Association’s training for civilians supports society in preparing for wide-ranging security threats and improves the general preparedness and capability of society. Furthermore, it offers women the opportunity for wider participation in national defence work.
The National Defence Training Association is developed as a strategic partner to the Defence Forces according to Nordic policies. The objective is to strengthen the status of voluntary national defence in local defence and executive assistance duties.
