Minister of Defence Häkkänen to attend Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting
Minister of Defence Antti Häkkänen will represent Finland at a meeting of the Ukrainian Defense Contact Group, which will be held remotely on 23 January 2024. The Group coordinates arms assistance to Ukraine. The meeting will focus on supporting Ukraine in the war of aggression launched by Russia.
- The war in Ukraine has been going on for
two years. The Ukrainian defence struggle is a question of security for the
whole of Europe, and we must not give way to war fatigue, Minister Häkkänen
emphasises.
The US-led support team for Ukraine consists of 54 countries, including all 31 NATO member countries and 23 other countries. The members of the group support Ukraine's defence by sending military equipment and defence materiel in response to Russia's war of aggression in Ukraine.
