Ministry of Defence issues decision on procurement of fibre optic cable units
Minister of Defence Antti Häkkänen has authorised the Defence Forces to procure fibre optic cable units under a framework agreement in 2024–2028 (48 months).The procurement package consists of products used for communications connections, including connector cables, fibre optic cable units, OTDR cables, field telephone cables and carrying equipment. The fibre optic cables will be supplied by the Norwegian-based company Fiberworks AS.
The overall value of the procurement without value added tax is EUR 16 million.
The products included in the agreement will be used to build cable connections for land defence command and control systems (MAPUJOHTTUKI project).
