Nordic defence ministers to meet in the Faroe Islands
On 29 to 30 April 2023, Minister of Defence Antti Häkkänen will attend a ministerial meeting for Nordic Defence Cooperation (NORDEFCO) in Tòrshavn, the Faroe Islands.
The ministers will discuss the long-term development of Nordic defence cooperation, the security situation in the North Atlantic and Arctic regions, and topical national defence policies in the various Nordic countries. The political steering document for defence cooperation, new Vision 2030 for NORDEFCO, will be signed at the meeting. The Vision will guide Nordic defence cooperation in the coming years.
- We will strengthen joint regional deterrence and our ability to carry out joint defence operations and those of the Alliance. The main focus is on developing interoperability, which means ensuring that we can work as smoothly as possible together and with our allies in all situations, says Minister Häkkänen.
