Minister of Defence Stefan Wallin is on a working visit in Afghanistan
Minister Wallin inspects the Finnish crisis-management troops in Afghanistan, meets Finnish peacekeepers, familiarises himself with the service conditions in the operation area of the Finns and has meetings with those responsible for the development of security in the area, such as the leading figures of ISAF RC North in northern Afghanistan.
Finland participates in the ISAF operation with about 195-strong troops. Finnish peacekeepers serve mainly in northern Afghanistan where Sweden is currently in command of a Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) in Mazar-e Sharif. The Swedish-led PRT also includes special advisors in civilian crisis management.
