Finland assumes NORDEFCO chairmanship 2013
On the 1st of January 2013, after a successful year chaired by the Danes, Finland assumed chairmanship of NORDEFCO. During the 2013 chairmanship, Finland will continue to focus on enhancing capability cooperation and achieving concrete results. Finland also wishes to create enhanced dialogue on the prospects, possibilities and long term goals of the Nordic defence cooperation. This will be supported by a stocktaking of the NORDEFCOs’ structures and way of work in order to assure maximum efficiency.
During the chairmanship Finland wishes to promote political discussion about topical security and defence policy issues from a Nordic perspective. This and the birth of new ideas and initiatives will be promoted by organizing seminars, expert meetings and workshops.
