Minister of Defence Carl Haglund to meet United States Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel
Minister of Defence Carl Haglund will make an official visit to the United States from 22 to 23 January 2014.
On Thursday 23 January, Minister Haglund will meet United States Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel at the Pentagon. They are to discuss current security policy related issues such as on-going crisis-management operations, cyber security, Nordic defence cooperation (Nordefco) and current security and defence policy matters of Finland and its adjacent areas.
Also on Thursday 23 January, Minister Haglund will give a presentation at an event organised by the Atlantic Council of the United States (ACUS). In his presentation Minister Haglund is going to discuss regional cooperation and Nordic defence cooperation. The presentation can be accessed on Friday 24 January 2014 at 9 a.m. on the website of the Finnish Ministry of Defence at www.defmin.fi/puheet.
Minister Haglund will also familiarise himself with the think tank activities at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) and meet the leadership of the Center.
