Finland and the United States held a defence materiel meeting in Finland

The annual bilateral defence materiel meeting between Finland and the United States was held on 1 to 2 September 2015.

The meeting where defence materiel policy and cooperation was discussed was based on bilateral Memorandums of Understanding. Finland?s Ministry of Defence has signed such documents with defence administrations of over twenty states.

The focus of the meeting was on defence materiel cooperation and future projects as well as research, development and technology. Key defence materiel projects and opportunities to develop cooperation in arctic capabilities were also discussed during the meeting.

Participants of the meeting visited VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd, Aalto University and the Association of Finnish Defence and Aerospace Industries (AFDA) where they met representatives from member companies.

The meeting was hosted by Director General Jukka Juusti of the Resource Policy Department in the Ministry of Defence. The American delegation was led by his American counterpart, Director Matthew Warren from the United States Department of Defense.
