Support to the Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan
Twenty representatives from the nations contributing to the Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan’s Regional Command North met on 23.11.2015 in Berlin. Organized on the request by German Defence Minister Ursula von der Leyen, they discussed the situation in Northern Afghanistan. Finland’s representative was Minister of Defence Jussi Niinistö.
The representatives addressed the current situation in Afghanistan and its future challenges. They gave their support to Afghanistan and Germany, the lead nation of the Regional Command North. Finland continues to contribute with the current level which is 40 military personnel. The support to Afghanistan was considered important also to prevent migration to Europe.
