Vacancies filled at the Ministry of Defence

At the plenary session on 27.8.2015 the Government has appointed Esa Pulkkinen as Director of the Defence Policy Department for the period of 1.1.2016—31.12.2020 and Teemu Penttilä as Director of the Administration Policy Department for the period of 1.1.2016—31.12.2020.

Major General Esa Ilmari Pulkkinen (born in 1957) has served as Director of the Defence Policy Department since 2011. He served as Director of the Operations Directorate in the EU Military Staff, Brussels, in 2008-2010. His previous appointments include the posts as Deputy Chief of Staff in the Plans and Policy Division, Defence Command Finland; Commander of the Jaeger Brigade in Sodankylä; Director of the Armour School; and Senior Staff Officer in the Ministry of Finland. He took the General Staff Officer examination in 1989 and was promoted to the rank of major general in 2014.

Director of Department Teemu Juhani Penttilä (born in 1964) has served as Director of the Administration Policy Department since 2007. His previous appointments include the posts as Principal Legal Adviser and Deputy Head of Division in the Defence Forces; Head of Office and military lawyer, Defence Command Finland. He took the Master of Laws degree in 1992.
