Minister of Defence Niinistö to Brussels
Minister of Defence Jussi Niinistö will take part in the foreign and defence minister meeting of the EU's Foreign Affairs Council and in the steering board meeting of the European Defence Agency (EDA) on 14 to 15 November 2016 in Brussels.
European foreign and defence ministers will discuss the implementation of the Global Strategy for the EU's Foreign and Security Policy in the field of security and defence.
The defence ministers will also address the EU-Nato cooperation and crisis management operations with focus on Libya and the Mediterranean.
The steering board of the European Defence Agency will also hold a defence-minister-level meeting as part of the Foreign Affairs Council where the deepening of defence cooperation in the EU to support joint ventures and relevant preconditions will be discussed. In addition, the budget of the EDA for 2017 and a three-year plan for 2017-2019 will be approved at the meeting.
