Vesa Valtonen appointed Secretary General of the Security Committee
On the proposal of the Government, the President of the Republic appointed on 29 June 2016 Lieutenant Colonel Vesa Valtonen to the post of Senior Staff Officer, for the period from 1 August 2016 to 31 July 2020. The Senior Staff Officer serves as the Secretary General of the Security Committee and as Head of Unit of the Secretariat of the Security Committee.
Lieutenant Colonel Vesa Petteri Valtonen (born in 1969) has worked as Battalion Commander in the Karelia Brigade since 2014. Prior to this he worked as Assistant Secretary General at the Secretariat of the Security Committee in 2011?2014. He defended his doctoral dissertation in military science in 2014. Valtonen took the General Staff Officer's Degree in 2004.
