Minister Niinistö to visit Sweden
Minister of Defence Jussi Niinistö will make a working visit to Sweden on 19 to 20 September 2017, on invitation of the Minister for Defence Peter Hultqvist. The visit programme includes bilateral negotiations and the ministers will also familiarise themselves with Sweden's Aurora 2017 exercise on the Gotland Island.
The ministers will discuss current topics in the defence cooperation between the two countries, exercises and the security policy situation in the neighbouring regions.
The Aurora 2017 exercise is the main military exercise of the Swedish Armed Forces and important cooperation partners will participate. As to Finland, the goal is to develop military cooperation between Sweden and Finland as well as international military cooperation. A further goal is to strengthen national defence by boosting competence development in a multinational environment.
