Defence Forces to procure new field phones

Minister of Defence Niinistö decided, on 02.10.2018, on the procurement of Finnish field phones and mandated the Defence Forces Logistics Command to make a framework agreement with Bittium Wireless Oy.

The framework agreement covers delivery years 2018-2022. All three branches of the Defence Forces will be using the field phones.

The overall value of the procurement mandate, without value added tax, is EUR 8.3 million, with a domestic employment effect of over 100 person-years. Development work of the field phones was started in 2015.

Based in Oulu, Northern Finland, Bittium Wireless Oy specialises, among other things, in developing secure communication and connectivity solutions. It is a subsidiary of Bittium Corporation.
