Minister of Defence Niinistö to Luxembourg
Minister of Defence Jussi Niinistö will attend a joint meeting by the EU Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Defence, on 25.6.2018, at the Foreign Affairs Council in Luxembourg. The meeting will address security and defence, and cooperation between the EU and NATO.
As to security and defence, the progress made so far will be in focus. Permanent structural cooperation (PESCO), military mobility, the European Peace Facility (EPF), partnerships, responding to hybrid threats and civilian crisis management will be on the agenda, too. The Council will adopt conclusions on security and defence and the participants will endorse the Council decision on the general administrative regulations concerning permanent structural cooperation projects.
As to the cooperation between the EU and NATO, the implementation of the 2016 Warsaw Joint Declaration will be reviewed. The EU-NATO cooperation will also be one of the items in the NATO Summit in July.
