Nordic Defence Ministers Meet in Bergen
The Nordic Defence Ministers will hold a Nordic Defence Cooperation (NORDEFCO) meeting from 10 to 11 April 2018 in Bergen, Norway. Norway holds the chairmanship of NORDEFCO in 2018.
Finland's representative at the meeting will be Jukka Juusti, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence. The aim is to discuss the security situation in the neighbouring areas and the northern regions, the review of the NORDEFCO Vision, capabilities cooperation, and the Nordic countries' transatlantic relations. New themes introduced during the Norwegian chairmanship are unmanned systems and the space.
Finland held NORDEFCO's chairmanship in 2017. The main achievements of the Finnish chairmanship were signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on Nordic Enhanced Cooperation on Air Surveillance (NORECAS) and progress in the joint procurement of combat uniforms.´
