Unofficial meeting of EU Ministers of Defence in Bucharest
The unofficial meeting of EU ministers of defence will be organised in Bucharest on 30 to 31 January 2019. As Minister Jussi Niinistö is not able to attend the meeting, Ambassador Hanna Lehtinen who is Finland’s representative on the European Union’s Political and Security Committee (PSC) will represent Finland.
The meeting will focus on the next steps in developing defence cooperation in the European Union. The defence ministers will assess, among other things, the implementation of the European Global Strategy in the area of security and defence. They will also discuss interlinkages of the defence initiatives of the EU, and impact of technology innovations on the armed forces.
Over dinner, the ministers will discuss Women, Peace and Security with representatives from NATO and the UN.
