Work on drafting a new defence policy report to begin
The Ministry of Defence launched the preparation of a Defence Policy Report on 24 September 2019, in accordance with the Government Programme’s objectives. On 22 August 2019, the President of the Republic and the Cabinet Committee on Foreign and Security Policy discussed the matter in their meeting.
The Defence Policy Report provides the guidelines for developing the Defence Forces and the necessary resources on a long-term basis, in line with the policies set out in the Foreign and Security Policy Report. The Defence Report will be prepared in close cross-administrative cooperation under the leadership of the Ministry of Defence.
The Report will be submitted to Parliament in the course of 2021, after the Foreign and Security Policy Report. It is going to be the second Government Defence Policy Report as the previous one was completed in 2017.
