Minister of Defence’s New Year’s Day reception cancelled
Minister of Defence Antti Kaikkonen has decided to cancel the traditional New Year’s Day reception because of the current coronavirus situation.The reception was scheduled for 1 January 2022. The list of guests traditionally includes different cooperation partners of the defence administration, war veterans and lottas, representatives of national defence organisations, the highest political leaders, and representatives of the Defence Forces, the business community and various organisations. The tradition of holding a reception dates as far back as to 1947.
- While life must go on, in the current coronavirus situation I see the decision to cancel the reception as the right option, says Defence Minister Kaikkonen.
