Defence Forces to buy new capabilities for field radios

The Ministry of Defence has authorised the Defence Forces to conclude a procurement contract with Bittium Wireless Oy for the development of narrowband waveform (NBWF).

According to the contract, Bittium Wireless Oy will provide NBWF for tactical field radios it manufactures. This will increase the data transfer capacity and resistance to jamming of the radios. 

The overall value of the procurement without value added tax is about EUR 7.4 million. The deliveries of the narrowband waveform will continue until 2025 with a domestic employment effect of approximately 70 person-years.
