Defence Forces to procure new heavy vehicles
The Ministry of Defence authorised the Defence Forces, on 9 June 2022, to procure heavy vehicles with equipment from Veho Oy AB and Scania Suomi Oy over the period 2022 to 2025.
The procurement includes 155 Mercedes-Benz trucks and Siimet trailers/platforms and seven Scania vehicles. In addition, the procurement includes an option for a total of 151 vehicles.
Based on the framework agreement with Hansel Ltd.’s “HGVs 2021-2023 (2025) Trucks and their services, the procurement was carried out as a reduced tendering process. The procurement will ensure that the needs for material transport of different projects and brigade-level units will be met.
The overall value of the procurement without value added tax is about EUR 67.5 million, of which the actual procurement, without value added tax, accounts for about EUR 34.9 million and the option without value added tax accounts for about EUR 32.7 million.
The domestic employment effect is approximately 60 per cent of the procurement’s value.
