Finland continues to support Ukraine

Finland will deliver more defence materiel to Ukraine. The President of the Republic decided on the matter on 20 December 2022 on the proposal of the Government.

This will be the 11th package of defence materiel to be delivered to Ukraine, with the value of EUR 28.8 million. The combined value of all defence materiel packages submitted to Ukraine is now EUR 189.2 million.

- Ukraine's defensive operation is still ongoing and the need for defence materiel is great. We will continue our support, says Minister of Defence Antti Kaikkonen.

For operational reasons and to ensure that the delivery reaches its destination, more detailed information on the content of the assistance, manner of delivery or schedule will not be provided. Both Ukraine’s needs and the resources of the Defence Forces have been taken into account when deciding on the additional assistance.

In addition, the President of the Republic decided that the Defence Forces will continue to participate in providing training support to the Ukrainian armed forces in Great Britain until the end of 2023.

In August, Finland sent about 20 trainers to a training operation led by Great Britain, the purpose of which is to train soldiers of Ukraine’s armed forces. Great Britain has requested support from its partner countries to implement the training.
