Minister of Defence Kaikkonen attended signing ceremony for 8x8 vehicle
On Tuesday 30 August 2022, Minister of Defence Antti Kaikkonen attended the signing ceremony in Bratislava between Patria and Slovakia for the procurement of 8x8 vehicles. The procurement is based on the research and product development project launched by Slovakia and Finland in 2017, which resulted in a prototype of the vehicle now being sold. The agreement that was signed is on the sale of 76 vehicles.
“I believe that with this project we are taking our defence materiel co-operation to a new level”, states Minister of Defence Antti Kaikkonen
The defence ministries of Finland and Slovakia also signed an intergovernmental agreement to provide separately specified support elements for the procurement. These include quality assurance of the armoured vehicles purchased by Slovakia, possible pricing audits, exchange of information and user experiences, and cooperation in training and exercises.
In addition, an agreement on industrial participation between Patria and the Slovakian defence industry company Konstrukta Defence was signed at the event.
