The 3rd European Conference of Defence and the Environment in Helsinki
The 3rd European Conference of Defence and the Environment (ECDE) will be held on 31 May to 2 June on board Viking Line M/S Mariella.
The Ministry of Defence, the Defence Forces and the Construction Establishment of the Defence Administration will organise a European-wide environmental conference starting in May. This will be the third conference of its kind, with speakers and participants from Europe, the United States and Canada. The conference which covers topics such as PFAS, energy efficiency, international operations/host nation support, heavy weapons and life cycle assessment (LCA) is meant for actors in the field of defence, such as political decision-makers, representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the Defence Forces, environmental authorities, researchers, representatives of the industry, and others responsible for environmental matters.
The conference will create opportunities to exchange knowledge and experiences about environmental protection practices in the field of defence administration. The goal is to increase international cooperation and know-how. Over 100 participants from European countries and North America have attended previous conferences.
This year the conference will be held on board Viking Line M/S Mariella. The conference fee is EUR 250/single cabin and EUR 200/double cabin, including the conference, cruise, cabin, two breakfasts and two dinners.
The deadline for submitting the registration is 31 March 2017.
